The charge of “obtaining a benefit by deception” is commonly known as fraud. Fraud charges can be considered as particularly serious, depending on the extent of the fraud, and how long it went on for.

The most common Fraud charges involve either causing a financial disadvantage to someone else, or obtaining property or financial advantage from someone else. It needs to be proven that these actions were either performed dishonestly, or by deception.

Fraud matters can be extremely complex, as the evidence is usually made up of statements, and lengthy financial records.
